Compare the complete setup, then choose the length

Start with your usual snow, terrain, ability and preferred turn shape. A narrower waist favors a different decision from a wider freeride platform; the construction, length and skier also change the result. These five cover adult resort all-mountain use, not race, touring, park, children's or dedicated powder skis. Only the Maverick 84 package includes bindings. For the other four, budget for compatible bindings, mounting and shop setup. Bring your actual boots to a qualified ski shop so it can choose, mount, adjust and test the system. Boots, bindings and brake width must work together. If you are new or unsure of length and category, renting or demoing before buying can be the better decision. We have not skied these products or measured their grip, damping or durability.

ATOMIC

Maverick 84 + M 10 GW

Progressing resort skiers who want a binding package

Research pick

Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the Concrete/Black, selected 171 cm; includes E M 10 GW Black L90 bindings; choose fitted length.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

This is the most accessible starting point here for an improving skier who spends much of the day on groomed runs. Atomic combines a poplar-and-foam core, a Titanal stabilizer and early-rise tips with the M 10 GW binding package, keeping the equipment decision simpler than buying a flat ski and separate binding.

  • 84.5 mm waist and 16 m radius at 171 cm
  • 153–180 cm lengths; Concrete/Black
  • M 10 GW bindings included
The tradeoff

The narrower platform is less suited to deep soft snow than the wider choices below, and it is not our pick for a powerful expert seeking a demanding ski. Included bindings still require professional adjustment and testing with your actual boots; check whether the binding range suits you.

ATOMIC

Maverick 88 CTI

Confident skiers prioritizing firm-snow versatility

Research pick

Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the Black/Black, selected 172 cm; flat skis without bindings; choose fitted length.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

The Maverick 88 CTI adds carbon and Titanal around an ash-and-poplar core. Its relatively narrow all-mountain platform and early-rise profile make it the firm-snow step up from the Maverick 84 package for a skier who already has solid technique and wants to choose a separate binding.

  • 88.5 mm waist and 16.5 m radius at 179 cm
  • Carbon/Titanal construction; Black/Black
  • Flat skis; bindings sold separately
The tradeoff

This construction asks more of the skier than the progression package. It offers less flotation than the 94–96 mm options, and the binding, mounting and shop setup add to the complete cost. The linked listing opens 172 cm; select a length with a qualified shop.

03

BLIZZARD

Anomaly 88

Strong skiers who want a substantial hardpack-focused build

Research pick

Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the 2026/27 Blue/Gold, selected 176 cm; flat skis without bindings; choose fitted length.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

Blizzard's 2Ti FluxForm construction and Trueblend wood core make the Anomaly the substantial, metal-reinforced alternative beside the Maverick. Its 88 mm waist, camber and early-rise tips and tails suit a resort skier who values a supportive platform and spends more time on firm snow than deep powder.

  • 88 mm waist; 16.5 m radius at 176 cm
  • 2Ti FluxForm and Trueblend wood core
  • 2026/27 Blue/Gold; bindings sold separately
The tradeoff

A substantial construction is not automatically easier or better for a lighter or less confident skier. This shortlist treats it as a strong-skier candidate rather than a beginner recommendation. Expect to pay separately for an appropriate binding and professional mounting.

NORDICA

Enforcer 94

Advanced resort skiers balancing groomers and mixed snow

Research pick
NORDICA Enforcer 94Photo: Nordica
Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the 2026/27 Petrol/Grey, selected 179 cm; flat skis without bindings; choose fitted length.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

Nordica combines a wood and elastomer Pulse core between two Titanal layers with a 94 mm waist. The added width gives this shortlist a more mixed-snow option while retaining a supportive, metal-reinforced construction for a confident skier who still spends substantial time on trails.

  • 94 mm waist; all-mountain rocker
  • Two Titanal layers with an elastomer Pulse core
  • 2026/27 Petrol/Grey; bindings sold separately
The tradeoff

Extra width and a strong construction bring different demands from a narrower progression ski. This is not the easiest choice for a novice or someone seeking effortless low-speed turns. The selected Amazon listing is 179 cm; match length and binding to the skier rather than the default offer.

05

BLIZZARD

Rustler 9

Mixed-snow resort days with a freeride emphasis

Research pick
BLIZZARD Rustler 9Photo: Blizzard
Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the Sand/Green, selected 186 cm; flat skis without bindings; choose fitted length.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

The Rustler is the freeride-oriented counterpoint to the Anomaly. Blizzard pairs a Trueblend Free wood core with shaped FluxForm Titanal and tip-and-tail rocker. Its 96 mm platform is the widest here, making it the softer-snow candidate for a skier who wants to explore beyond groomed trails when conditions allow.

  • 96 mm waist; 17 m radius at 180 cm
  • FluxForm Freeride Ti; rockered tip and tail
  • Sand/Green; bindings sold separately
The tradeoff

A wider, rockered ski gives up some of the narrower options' focus on firm-snow carving, and 96 mm is still not a dedicated deep-powder platform. The link opens 186 cm; choose a suitable length and have the binding mounted, adjusted and tested professionally.
