Compatibility is more than screen size

Check the exact TV model without its stand, its mounting-hole pattern, screw depth and attached accessory weight. Follow both manuals for wall structure, fasteners, lifting assistance and clearances. Never fasten a conventional TV mount only into drywall. Use a qualified installer when wall construction or fireplace clearance is uncertain; avoid a high location if a comfortable eye-level position is available.

SANUS

VLT7 Advanced Tilt 4D

Tilt plus access behind a large television

Research pick
SANUS VLT7 Advanced Tilt 4DPhoto: SANUS
Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the VLT7-B2 AdvancedTilt4D mount only,42–90inch/150lb/6.8inch extension; not VLT6,5.7inch model or soundbar/surge bundle.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

The VLT7 extends up to 6.8 inches to make tilting and cable access easier, with a small amount of sideways swivel. It is a useful middle ground between a fixed bracket and a long articulated arm.

  • 42–90-inch stated range; 150 lb maximum
  • 6.8-inch extension; 2.1-inch minimum depth
  • Up to 15° swivel left or right
The tradeoff

Small swivel angles cannot replace a full-motion arm. The page’s illustrated tilt angles differ from older retailer descriptions; use the current exact-model manual and TV fit checker before installation.

ECHOGEAR

EGLF2-BK · full motion

Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the EGLF2 MaxMotion full-motion mount only,42–90inch/125lb/22inch extension; not EGXLF1,EGLF3 or soundbarbundle.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

The EGLF2 offers extension and swivel for a room with more than one viewing position. Its specified 16–24-inch stud spacing and supported VESA patterns make it a concrete option to check against the actual wall and television.

  • 125 lb maximum; 22-inch extension
  • VESA 200 × 100 through 600 × 400mm
  • 16–24-inch studs; 2.4-inch minimum depth
The tradeoff

Echogear’s current page says 42–90 inches while an older factsheet says up to 80. Weight, VESA pattern, wall structure and the exact manual govern compatibility; a large screen reduces attainable swivel.

SANUS

VLF728-B2 · full motion

A longer arm when 22 inches is insufficient

Research pick
SANUS VLF728-B2 · full motionPhoto: SANUS
Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the VLF728 full-motion mount, 42–90-inch TVs up to125lb, 28-inch extension; not VLF or VLT alternate model.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

This full-motion mount extends to 28 inches and offers cable management. It belongs on the shortlist when the room layout calls for more reach; check the screen’s clearance throughout the whole movement before choosing it.

  • 42–90-inch stated range; 125 lb maximum
  • 28-inch maximum extension
  • Manufacturer lists up to 57° swivel each way
The tradeoff

The longer reach puts more importance on correct structural fastening and clearance. Maximum swivel depends on TV width. Brushed exterior trim is not evidence of stronger real-world performance; we have not load-tested it.

SANUS

VLL5 · fixed position

A close fit for a screen at eye level

Research pick
SANUS VLL5 · fixed positionPhoto: SANUS
Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the VLL5-B1 fixed wall mount, Black; exact VLL5 model, not VLL16 or alternate mount.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

A fixed bracket is worth considering when the viewing position is already right and the TV does not need to swivel. The VLL5 keeps the screen about 0.91 inch from the wall and allows sideways positioning on its plate.

  • Fixed position; 0.91-inch wall profile
  • Manufacturer states 42–90-inch screen range
  • Side-to-side positioning on wall plate
The tradeoff

No tilt or articulated reach. Rear-facing plugs may need more clearance than the bracket provides. SANUS lists different VESA ranges in its summary and detailed pattern list; confirm your exact TV and bracket revision before buying.

MANTELMOUNT

MM540 Enhanced · pull down

Lowering a compatible TV from above a mantel

Research pick
MANTELMOUNT MM540 Enhanced · pull downPhoto: MANTELMOUNT
Cost to compareCheck current price

Check Amazon for the current price of the MM540 standalone above-fireplace manual pull-down TV mount, 44–80 inch/up to 90 lb; not MM340, MM700, MAX1, MM815 or accessory bundle.

Check Amazon price ↗Affiliate link · We may earn a commission.

The MM540 is a specialist alternative when a high mounting position cannot be avoided. It can lower a compatible television by up to 27 inches, and includes a soundbar attachment and handles intended for moving the screen.

  • 44–80-inch TVs; 20–90 lb supported load
  • Up to 27-inch vertical drop; 9° downward tilt
  • VESA 200 × 200 to 600 × 600mm
The tradeoff

The minimum load matters as well as the maximum. Mantel depth, wall structure, heat, TV height and total attached weight must pass the manufacturer’s installation calculator/manual. Heat-sensing handles do not make an unsafe fireplace installation safe.
